COBB CHAMBER CELEBRATES AT 69TH ANNUAL DINNER

   The Cobb Chamber of Commerce celebrated its many successes of 2010 at its 69th Annual Dinner Saturday night at the Cobb Galleria Centre.
   Bank of North Georgia President and COO Rob Garcia extended his leadership role as the Cobb Chamber’s Chairman of the Board of Directors for 2011.
   Also welcomed to the 2011 Chamber leadership team was Chairman-elect Tony Britton of Community & Southern Bank and First Vice Chairman Greg Morgan of Mauldin & Jenkins, LLC.
   The Cobb Chamber honored its 2010 Board of Directors and gave several prestigious awards.
   Established in 2008, the Dr. Robert A. Lipson Award is presented to a visionary, a friend, a mentor and a leader, who lives their life with passion for their work, their community and their family. Jim Rhoden of Futren Corporation was the recipient of this award for his outstanding leadership exemplary towards others and his passion for being a resident of Cobb County.
   The Chairman’s Award was given to Ben Mathis of Freeman Mathis and Gary, LLP. This award recognizes outstanding leadership, dedication, support, enthusiasm and commitment to the Cobb Chamber. Mathis has been a consistent supporter of the Cobb Chamber and has dedicated his time and resources to improving the Chamber and Cobb County.
   The Mack Henderson Public Service Award is presented to an individual who is outstanding in his or her commitment and dedication to building a better quality of life for the citizens of Cobb County. This year there were two individuals recognized because of their strong force in the Chamber and community this year. Mayor Mark Mathews of the City of Kennesaw and Heath Garrett of Turner, Bachman & Garrett, LLC were honored with this award.
   The Len Gilbert Award is presented to an outstanding board member who, through his or her leadership, commitment and dedication achieved new heights in program development. Mary Karras of Bank of North Georgia was the recipient of this year’s award for her exceptional dedication in service and leadership to the Cobb Chamber Membership Department from the moment she was asked to serve on the board.
   Eighteen individuals were honored with Campaign Lifetime Achievement Awards, an award given to those with outstanding 2010 Membership Campaign production. Lisa Crossman of the Leadership Cobb Alumni team was honored as the top achiever. Other top producers honored for campaign efforts were:

   The Marietta Daily Journal gave its prestigious 2010 Cobb County Citizen of the Year award to Earl Smith Strand Theatre Executive Director Earl Reece. The Marietta Daily Journal has presented this award since 1963 at the Cobb Chamber Annual Dinner.
   The master of ceremonies was media coach and speech consultant Chris Davala, president of Cobb-based SmarTalk, Inc. The invocation was offered by Dr. Bryan E. Crute of Destiny Metropolitan Worship Church. PRIME provided the musical entertainment, while Carithers Flowers supplied the floral decorations and Entertainment Design Group provided audiovisual services. Kaiser Permanente was the presenting sponsor; Bank of North Georgia was the diamond sponsor; BB&T was the reception sponsor; Cobb EMC
was the dinner sponsor and Delta Community Credit Union was the entertainment sponsor.
