2025 Annual Educational Conference | Aug. 25-27

The State Board of Workers’ Compensation (SBWC) is pleased to announce its highly anticipated 2025 Annual Educational Conference, scheduled to take place from August 25 to 27, 2025, at The Hotel at Avalon in Alpharetta, Georgia. This Western-themed three-day event will bring together professionals, experts, and stakeholders from across the workers’ compensation field to discuss and explore the latest trends, challenges, and best practices.

Conference Highlights:

  1. Keynote Speaker: Dr. Bruce Bright, Lieutenant Colonel, Bruce Bright, USMC (Ret.). Bruce has a strong desire to help and encourage people using the experiences and lessons he has learned in business and in life. Bruce spent 28 years in service with the U.S. Marine Corps. His service includes four years as a Marine Infantryman and 24 years as a Marine F/A- 18 Fighter Pilot. Before retiring in 2007, he logged over 3,000 flight hours including two combat tours in the Middle East. His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal; the Air Medal with 1 strike/flight award, the Joint Commendation Medal, five Navy Commendation Medals (one with the Combat Distinguishing Device) and the Aerial Achievement Medal.
  2. Medical Session: Attendees will benefit from sessions on critical medical topics, including the Impact of obesity and the possible role GLP-1’s, the Return-to-Work practicum, Leveraging AI, and Unique Workers’ Compensation exposure cases. 
  3. Legal Session: Topics on what to avoid in settlement stipulations to ensure prompt approval, case law roundup, a session on improving how you handle cases for a hearing or mediation, and Live Oral Arguments.
  4. Insurance/Self-Insurance Session: Key discussions will cover mastering board form filings, fair settlements and protecting your subrogation rights, runaway claims 101, and unique workers’ compensation exposure cases. 
  5. Case Management Session: Learn about navigating changes in the managed care and rehabilitation manual, coordinating complex services, mental health discussions, a discussion of procedural and changes, and streamlined processes of becoming a catastrophic rehab supplier.
  6. Ethics Session: Gain insights on generational perspectives on ethics and professionalism and enjoy a game of Workers’ Compensation Family Feud.

  1. Meet the Exhibitors Reception: Engage with leading industry vendors and discover the latest innovations and services in the exhibit hall.
  2. Meet the Chairman Reception: Network with peers and leaders in the field in an informal setting, providing a unique opportunity to discuss pressing issues and share ideas.

New for 2025 – SBWC Innovation Hub: 

We will feature up to 12 companies in the Hagood Atrium in our first ever Innovation Hub. Companies that are on the leading edge of innovation and pushing forward in the Workers’ Compensation Industry will be showcased which will include artificial technology, new procedures, devices or technology that push us into the future.
