Top local marketing firm 524 Creative recently won three MarCom Awards from the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). The Marietta agency was named a Platinum Winner for the logo design of liveSAFE Resources, a Platinum Winner for a label design produced for Shepherd’s Men, and a Gold Winner for the website design of liveSAFE Resources. The prestigious MarCom Awards honor excellence in marketing and communication, and recognize the creativity, hard work and generosity of industry professionals.
Since its inception in 2004, the MarCom Awards have evolved into one of the largest, most-respected creative competitions in the world. Each year, about 6,000 print and digital entries are submitted from dozens of countries. Administered by the AMCP, the MarCom Awards also encourages entrants to submit outstanding work that they perform pro bono for nonprofits.
Scott Wright, Principal and Creative Director of 524 Creative, says, “Nonprofit organizations have unique marketing challenges. They are operating with tighter budgets and reliant on volunteers to do much of the work in order to preserve the majority of funds to support their mission. They are also competing with other nonprofits to attract potential donors and volunteers. We gladly accept these challenges on behalf of our clients, and know that working together we can affect real change and improve our community.”
The mission of liveSAFE Resources is to provide safety and healing to those impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault and elder abuse. Formerly the YWCA of Northwest Georgia, the organization made the decision to rebrand itself so it was more easily discernable to families and individuals in need of its services. The graphical icon in the new logo is inspired by an origami peace dove that reflects client transformation through their individual healing process.
The branding is also reflected in the organization’s comprehensive new website, www.liveSAFEresources.org. The interactive site features information on the issues, the services the organization offers, true client stories, donation call-outs, and, most critically, an always-visible emergency number and safe exit button.
“We selected 524 Creative to be the marketing firm for our rebranding project, which was a major undertaking as we had formerly been a YWCA for 100 years in our community,” said Holly Comer Tuchman, Executive Director of liveSAFE Resources. “524 Creative was amazing throughout this process with their ideas, strategies, focus and dedication to our organization and our mission. I am not surprised they are receiving such high accolades for their hard work and tremendous outcome. We were truly pleased with our new name, logo and all pieces that they developed for us.”
“I have worked with 524 Creative on two award-winning rebrands and the launch of a new brand, and each time, they have more than exceeded expectations,” said Tracy Rathbone, President of liveSAFE Resources’ Board of Directors. “Working with this team both within the nonprofit arena and beyond it, I have seen them create phenomenal and inspiring work, performed with a keen understanding of their clients’ needs and a deep commitment to their success.”
The Shepherd’s Men support the SHARE Military Initiative at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, a comprehensive rehabilitation program that assesses and treats veteran service men and women who have sustained a mild to moderate traumatic brain injury, including post-traumatic stress disorder. They raise valuable resources and awareness for this life-saving program, most notably via a cross-country run in honor of the 22 American veterans lost to suicide each day.
524 Creative designed the label for a specialty beer produced as part of a Shepherd’s Men’s fundraising initiative. The brew was created in partnership with Southern rock band Blackberry Smoke, and its label incorporates the two logos and Native American-inspired artwork as a nod to the band’s album “Like an Arrow.”
“The Like an Arrow beer created a vehicle to allow the Shepherd’s Men mission to reach an entirely new audience,” said Travis Ellis, Co-Founder of Shepherd’s Men. “The response we received was overwhelmingly positive and the label design accomplished all we had hoped for in creating awareness for the life-saving treatment being rendered daily at the SHARE Military Initiative at Shepherd Center.”
April Wright, Principal and Chief Strategist for 524 Creative, says, “We are very grateful to be honored with three Marcom Awards for our work with liveSAFE Resources and Shepherd’s Men. It is always nice to be recognized for great work, but it is most rewarding when it can help people and causes we believe in.”
524 Creative proudly participates in projects for nonprofit organizations, including the pro bono design of the Marietta Veterans Day parade poster, which received a MarCom honorable mention. Additionally, the agency also works with Cobb Health Futures Foundation, Douglas Health Futures Foundation, Cobb2020, Live Healthy Douglas, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Atlanta, the Town Center Community Alliance and many other local nonprofits.
