The Cobb Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors voted on Monday, Oct. 4 to elect Rob Garcia of Bank of North Georgia as its Chairman for a second consecutive term in 2011.
With the recent resignation of Dr. Greg Simone as the Cobb Chamber’s incoming 2011 Board Chairman, the Executive Committee met on September 23 to determine a course of action to fill the position. The Cobb Chamber’s by-laws do not require a defined course of action for this situation. Using a confidential ballot, the Executive Committee voted to recommend to the Board of Directors that Garcia be asked to continue his role as Chairman and serve in that role through the end of 2011. The
Board of Directors approved the recommendation on October 4 by unanimous vote.
He will ensure the Cobb Chamber and Cobb County continues to be the place to do business in metro Atlanta, focusing on quality of life issues that affect our business climate.
Tony Britton of Community and Southern Bank will serve as Vice-Chairman under Garcia. A First Vice-Chairman will be decided upon later this year.
Garcia has more than 21 years of banking experience and currently serves as executive vice president of Bank of North Georgia’s Real Estate Division. His responsibilities include the oversight of the three bank offices in Atlanta, four offices in Marietta and one office in Kennesaw.
