Plan Your Commute Wisely: I-285 Resurfacing Comes to Cobb

This past weekend the Georgia Department of Transportation postponed its resurfacing project, a part of the RoadWorks2012 construction program, due inclement weather conditions. However, contractors will resume work tonight continuing every night this week in an effort to pave the ramps along the corridor, weather permitting. Due to the rainout last weekend, paving of the mainline eastbound lanes of I-285 will commence this weekend.

The work schedule listed below outlines construction areas as well as ramp closings for Monday through Thursday. Ramps listed on two different nights indicate that the contractor plans to complete that ramp on the second night. The weekend schedule will be released once it has been confirmed.

Monday, August 6, 2012 – Ramps:
EB Exit 18 Off Ramp to Paces Ferry Rd.
EB Exit 18 On Ramp from Paces Ferry Rd.
1 Ramp closed at a time each location

Tuesday, August 7, 2012 – Ramps:

Wednesday, August 8, 2012 – Ramps:

The basic operational concept for all project work conducted will include ramp resurfacings (necessitating their closures) as well as mainline milling and paving throughout the weekends. During ramp closures, detour signs will be strategically placed to redirect drivers to maintain order and safety.

The Georgia Department of Transportation labors tirelessly in accordance with its RoadWorks2012 construction program in order to implement dozens of important roadway infrastructure improvement projects throughout the state. Maintaining Georgia’s intricate and extensive network of transportation requires continual investment and refurbishing. The Department strongly advises and urges citizens to exercise utmost caution and safety when driving in work zones during this period of perhaps inconvenient but necessary construction.
