Local Mayors Declare College Colors Day Honoring Kennesaw State University on Aug. 30

Colors DayKennesaw State University President Daniel S. Papp and Vaughn Williams, Kennesaw State’s director of athletics, will meet Monday, Aug. 26, with the mayors of Kennesaw, Acworth, Dallas and Powder Springs to sign a proclamation designating Friday, Aug. 30, as “College Colors Day” at the state’s third-largest university. The joint proclamation calls on citizens to show their school spirit by wearing their Black and Gold Kennesaw State-branded attire as the Owls celebrate 31 years of intercollegiate athletics. College Colors Day is a national event, now entering its seventh year. It kicks off the fall semester’s intercollegiate athletics season and strives to advocate higher education through increased public awareness.

The mayors joining President Papp and Director of Athletics Vaughn Williams include: Mayor Mark Mathews of the City of Kennesaw, Mayor Tommy Allegood of the City of Acworth, Mayor Boyd Austin of the City of Dallas, and Mayor Patricia Vaughn of the City of Powder Springs.
