(MARIETTA, GA)— At it’s February meeting held on Monday, the Good for Cobb organization unanimously voted to support all endeavors beneficial to the vitality of Dobbins Air Reserve Base (AFB).
Dobbins ARB is the largest multi-service reserve-training base in the world, the only military facility in metro Atlanta, and supports more than 10,000 guardsmen and reservists from the Air Force, Army, Navy and Marines. Nearly 50 aircraft are assigned to different flying units at Dobbins and the base and it boasts more than 7,000 takeoffs and landings monthly.
“With more than 20,000 employees and more than $2.5 billion in annual economic impact, every member of the committee unanimously voted that Dobbins is Good for Cobb,” said John Loud, Good for Cobb Co-Chair. “The base has always been vitally important to Cobb and we want to make sure we support all efforts to maintain and grow the base while letting the employees know how appreciative we are of their service.”
Formed in January 2015, Good for Cobb is a grassroots coalition of diverse and engaged Cobb County community leaders representing the education, business, public safety and non-profit sectors with a mission of supporting initiatives
that ensure a bright future for Cobb County as well as the region.
Justin O’Dell, partner in the law firm O’Dell and O’Neal, is serving as Co-Chair, and Donna Shaw, Associate Broker at Re-Max of Atlanta, is serving as Treasurer.
In its first meeting, the group voted to support all efforts related to the Atlanta Braves relocation to Cobb County in 2017.
