The Joining Hands In Wellness Partnership will be promoting our Annual “Wellness Day South Cobb & Austell 5K” event Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 10AM – 3PM. The event location is Collar Park and Community Center, 2625 Joe Jerkins Blvd., Austell, GA 30106. The Austell 5K staging area is James Plaza, 2723 Jefferson Street, Austell, GA 30168 and starts at 8:00am. The main objective of this event is to introduce to the community what is Wellness, the purpose of it, and why it is so important. The event will consist of interactive activities and educational information to include, games, tennis and basketball clinics, free giveaways, prizes, Zumba, health screenings, food, entertainment and fun, with the purpose of informing individuals that live in the City of Austell and the South Cobb area about the many resources available in our community.
The purpose of collaborating in the Wellness Movement is to promote and support all aspects of wellness using SAMHSA’s 8 Dimensions of Wellness, as mental wellness being a key component. We want to reduce negative attitudes and raise awareness about the importance of overall wellness, support people in our community who need services, and build connections throughout Austell and the South Cobb community.

Social Concepts and Development Services is an organization with a goal of bettering the community by becoming a bridge to all aspects of wellness. Along with Sweetwater Mission (formerly known as Christian Aid Mission Partners Partnership (C.A.M.P), a non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to provide basic needs such as food, clothing, family services, and educational opportunities. Our additional partners, Austell Community Taskforce (ACT), Powder Springs Community Taskforce (PSCT) and Connecting Generations, along with several other organizations, have teamed up to promote wellness starting here in the City of Austell.
