Cobb County now offers a great way for people to increase their understanding of county government and how it operates, enhance their ability to communicate effectively with local officials and network with other like-minded stakeholders in our community. Applications are being accepted for the inaugural Cobb 101 Citizens Government Academy. The application deadline is Feb. 28, but the academy is limited to 45 people so those interested are encouraged to apply now at cobbcounty.org/cobb101. This free, 10-week course will be held from April to June.
Cobb 101 is designed to give residents and business owners an in-depth look at the roles and responsibilities of Cobb County Government. The goal is to foster an informed and engaged community and ensure an accountable and responsive government. Participants will learn about vital community services including zoning, planning, finance, court systems, parks and recreation and public safety. Each week, a different topic will be covered through interactive presentations, site visits and class meetings with government officials.
Classes will initially meet at 100 Cherokee St. in Marietta. Class location may vary depending on the subject being covered. A detailed itinerary will be provided to all participants prior to the class start date. For more information, or to apply, visit cobbcounty.org/cobb101.
