The College of Continuing and Professional Education (CCPE) at Kennesaw State University received two awards from the University Professional and Continuing Education Association (UPCEA). The Medical Assisting certificate was named Program of Excellence and Navy Veteran Kenneth Danter was honored with the Continuing Education Student Award. The awards were presented at the UPCEA Mid-Atlantic and South Regional Conference, October 1-3, in Washington, DC.
“This recognition is a testament to the quality of the healthcare education we provide at CCPE,” said Andrea Cochran, program director. “This program’s launch in 2013 involved constructing a specialized classroom complete with a clinical setting. Our graduates enter the workforce trained by some of the best.”
The Medical Assisting Certificate focuses on patient-centered services. The 14-month program includes lecture, hands-on training, and clinical externships. Graduates from the Medical Assisting certificate currently maintain a 94 percent pass rate on the National Heathcareer Associations’ Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Exam.
Kenneth Danter received the Continuing Education Student Award for combining his nine-year service in the Navy with professional education. Danter enrolled in CCPE’s Cisco Network Certificate in 2016, broadening his skill set and gaining the ability to manage and optimize network systems. In 2017, he completed the Certified Ethical Hacker Certificate.
“Thank you all for everything you all have done for me,” Danter said. “Every completed course from CCPE has caused a huge jump in my career path. I am very thankful for the opportunities.”
Interim Dean Dr. Tim Blumentritt and Director of Marketing Davia Rose Lassiter accepted the awards on behalf of CCPE. Lassiter also led a concurrent session titled “Bull’s Eye: A Multi-Layered Approach to Target Marketing” and co-presented “The CRM Spectrum: Finding a Solution that Fits” with Eric McGee, director of client services for JMH Consulting, a division of Education Dynamics.
