Mauldin & Jenkins’ employees joined forces to raise over $1,000, and on April 18th gathered to assemble 365 “Snack Packs” for the United Way Snack Pack program. Mauldin & Jenkins, LLC, a trusted CPA firm with eight offices located around the Southeast, is committed to serving our surrounding communities. Each M&J office has a Community Service Leader who arranges a project each quarter. Katie Smith, Atlanta office leader, worked with United Way on all the project details to ensure it was successful.
Imagine eating lunch and having nothing to eat again until breakfast the next day. Even worse, imagine going home Friday and having nothing of nutritional value to eat until Monday morning. Sadly, this is reality for many children across the metro Atlanta area. There are children in our city that only get to eat when they are at school. Heartbreaking, right? The good news is that there is something we can do to make a change in these children’s lives.
United Way has created the Snack Pack program to help fight child hunger. Children in need are identified by school counselors, nurses, and teachers and then discreetly given the snack packs so that they are not embarrassed. Each pack is filled with a variety of snack foods including granola bars, crackers, and fruit cups.
