MPCS THEATER TEACHER SELECTED BEST IN STATE BY PEERS

Mount Paran Christian School Theater Teacher Meagan Williams has been selected as the Georgia Thespian Outstanding Educator of the Year by the Georgia Thespian community at the annual Georgia Thespians conference, “ThesCon.”

Each year, more than 7,000 Georgia high school theater teachers and their students gather for the annual conference. The multi-day event is filled with numerous troupe performances, workshops and masterclasses, and college recruiting for theater major hopefuls. At the end of the conference, the Georgia Thespian Outstanding Educator of the Year is named. The recipient is chosen based on two factors:

• First, the teacher must be nominated by their students, who write persuasively on the merits of what their teacher does for their troupe.

• Second, the final decision for the award is determined by peer teachers who have won the award in previous years.

MPCS students were most persuasive in their nomination of Mrs. Williams, who was selected by her peers as the Georgia Thespian Outstanding Educator of the Year because of her impact in the Georgia Thespian community. She received the award from MPCS high school drama student Ansley Hester. MPCS student Ana Buchan also represented the school as a Student Officer.
