Cobb Workforce Partnership Meeting on Sept. 8 to Feature Keith Parker of Goodwill of North Georgia CEO

The Cobb Chamber and SelectCobb invite you to the annual Cobb Workforce Partnership Meeting on Friday, Sept. 8 featuring Goodwill of North Georgia CEO, Keith Parker. Through his extraordinary leadership, Goodwill of North Georgia has been recognized as one of the top workforce development organizations in the nation. Join us as he shares more about how Goodwill is making a difference in the workforce.

One of the largest retail and nonprofit organizations in the southeast, Goodwill of North Georgia spans a 45-county territory, operating 67 stores, 52 attended donation centers and 13 career centers. Prior to transitioning into his leadership role at Goodwill of North Georgia, Parker has served as CEO of the largest transit systems in several cities, including San Antonio, Charlotte and most recently, Atlanta.

Parker’s five-year leadership of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) won widespread acclaim. He helped transform one of the most beleaguered transit agencies in the nation – with huge budget deficits and major public image issues – to a fiscally sound, award-winning organization. Parker’s leadership established MARTA as an important player in Georgia’s economic development efforts, helping to attract/retain major employers.

Since its inception in 2015, the Cobb Workforce Partnership (CWP) has worked to address the current and future workforce needs and concerns by bringing together leaders from the business community, K-12 educational systems, postsecondary education institutions, and other stakeholders for focused dialogue.

CWP is a collaboration of the Cobb County and Marietta K-12 schools, the University and Technical College system, community workforce providers, and local businesses brought together to address the current needs and gaps of the Cobb County workforce. The CWP comes together annually to share ideas, expertise, and resources to strengthen workforce development in the county.

The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Cobb Innovation and Technology Academy. Registration is open now at https://tinyurl.com/y4p42vrf. Attendance is free, but registration is required. Thank you to Yearlong Presenting Sponsor, Life University, and Strategic Partner, Georgia Power.
