Powder Springs Mayor, Two City Council Members Sworn In

In the first Powder Springs City Council meeting of the year on Jan. 2, Mayor Al Thurman and Councilwoman Patricia Wisdom were sworn in to their respective offices, both kicking off third terms. They were joined by new Post 1 – At Large Councilman Dwight McMutry, who succeeds Patrick Bordelon, who did not seek re-election and whose second term ended in December. The three were sworn in by Cobb Superior Court Judge Kellie S. Hill.

The meeting was held on a Tuesday night due to the previous day’s city holiday in observance of New Year’s Day. The City Council’s next meeting will also be held on a Tuesday, Jan. 16, due to Monday’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
