45 Cottage-Style Senior Living Homes | Offer Continuum of Care
in Certified Audubon Wildlife Woodland Environment

Presbyterian Homes of Georgia (PHGA) announces a $100 million senior living expansion and transformation of its Austell campus, marking one of the largest senior housing investments in metro Atlanta in recent years. The ambitious senior living development will add 45 new single-family cottage homes to the community’s 60-acre Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary campus, introduce comprehensive upgrades to senior dining and wellness facilities, and rebrand the community as Presbyterian Village Cobb to reflect its expanded regional service to seniors across Cobb County.
Located just 15 minutes from downtown Atlanta, the senior living expansion responds to growing demand for modern cottage-style senior living—spacious, independent senior housing residences that offer privacy and home ownership feel while providing seamless access to assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing services on the same campus as healthcare needs change over time.
“This $100 million senior living expansion represents our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of Cobb County’s senior population while creating quality jobs and economic opportunity for metro Atlanta,” said Alex Patterson, President and CEO of Presbyterian Homes of Georgia. “We’re preserving the mission and values that have guided us for 75 years while building a next-generation senior living community that honors both independence and security.”
Economic Impact and Senior Living Jobs in Metro Atlanta
The multi-year senior housing development project is expected to deliver significant economic benefits to Cobb County:
- $100 million capital investment in construction, materials, infrastructure, and senior living campus improvements
- Creation of 75+ permanent jobs in nursing, senior dining services, wellness programming, and facilities management
- 200+ construction jobs during the building phase
- Expanded senior housing inventory in a tight metro Atlanta market where cottage-style independent living options are limited
- Increased local commerce from family visits, community events, and senior living vendor partnerships
Cottage-Style Senior Living in an Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary
The new cottage homes will be integrated into Presbyterian Village Cobb’s established 60-acre campus, which holds the distinction of being a certified Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary. Senior living residents enjoy a woodland environment, native gardens, and remarkable biodiversity—a therapeutic natural setting uncommon in senior living communities.
Each cottage home will feature modern, open-concept floor plans with full kitchens, private garages, covered porches, and accessibility features for aging in place. While designed for independent senior living, cottage residents have immediate access to the community’s full continuum of care—including on-site senior physicians, rehabilitation services, memory support, and 24-hour skilled nursing—allowing them to age in place as healthcare needs evolve. “Our cottage-style senior living model is about choice and peace of mind,” Patterson explained. “You’re not ‘entering a facility’—you’re moving into your own home in a senior living neighborhood, with the security of knowing expert healthcare and assistance is steps away if you ever need it.”
Oasis Priority Program: Reserve Your Cottage Home
To engage prospective senior living residents early in the planning process, Presbyterian Village Cobb is launching the Oasis Priority Program, which allows families to reserve their place in line for the new cottage homes with a fully refundable $500 deposit. Priority members will receive:
- Exclusive updates on cottage floor plans and senior living pricing
- Invitations to design input sessions
- First selection of cottage home locations within the senior living community
Priority membership for cottage-style senior living opens to the general public in late October on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Oasis Priority Program Inaugural Event will be held November 13, 2025, at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, where attendees can meet the leadership team, review preliminary architectural plans, and learn about the cottage home reservation process.

“These town hall-style meetings will give neighbors a chance to better understand how this expansion benefits the broader metro Atlanta region and beyond,” Patterson said.
