Waymark, a Marietta-based nonprofit serving youth in foster care, will host its upcoming Xtreme Journey program on Saturday, March 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM at North Metro Church, 2305 Ernest W Barrett Pkwy NW, Marietta, GA 30064.
Designed for teens ages 13 and older from foster, adoptive, and group homes, Xtreme Journey is a free, one-day experience focused on equipping young people with the tools they need to confidently step into adulthood. Throughout the day, speakers will lead engaging sessions on Financial Literacy, Career Preparation, Stress Management & Coping Skills, Personal Safety, and Entrepreneurship.
Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, share their perspectives, and build practical skills in a supportive environment. In addition to learning sessions, teens will take part in a “mini” professional photo shoot, including a headshot they can use for resumes, job applications, and personal branding,
A highlight of the day will be the Career Fair from 12:00–1:15 PM, featuring companies and organizations representing industries such as construction, food service, entertainment, law enforcement, and more. These businesses will provide insights into their operations and discuss potential employment and career pathways.
The event is completely free, lunch will be provided, and teens can look forward to games and giveaways, including a gift card and a backpack filled with goodies.
In addition to the teen programming, Waymark is offering free Trauma-Informed Training for adults, including parents, caregivers, and volunteers who serve children and teens. Continuing Education (CE) certificates are available upon request.
