Waymark Invites Businesses and Community to Support “Xtreme Journey” Life Skills & Career Fair for Youth

Waymark is inviting local businesses, nonprofits, schools, and community leaders to participate in Xtreme Journey, a free life skills conference and career fair that prepares youth for successful, independent futures.

The event will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at North Metro Church, 2305 Ernest W. Barrett Parkway NW, Marietta, GA 30064.

Xtreme Journey serves young adults ages 13–21+ in foster care, adoptive families, group homes, relative placements, and other at-risk situations by providing practical life and career readiness training in a supportive environment.

Participants will attend interactive workshops covering topics such as:
• Financial Literacy
• Career Preparation
• Healthy Relationships & Boundaries
• Communication and other essential life skills

Youth also receive a complimentary lunch, professional headshots for future employment and college applications, backpacks and supplies, games, giveaways, and opportunities to connect with caring adults and community partners.

At the same time, adults—including caregivers, foster and adoptive parents, mentors, and volunteers—can attend free Trauma-Informed Training, equipping them with practical tools to better support children and teens. Continuing Education (CE) certificates are available upon request.

A featured Career Fair will take place from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., where businesses and organizations will introduce youth to career pathways across industries including entertainment, finance, insurance, healthcare, construction, food service, law enforcement, higher education, and many others.

Businesses are encouraged to participate even if they are not currently hiring. The goal is to expose young people to career possibilities, answer questions, build confidence, and inspire future success.

Xtreme Journey is made possible through the collaboration of more than 20 community partners and organizations. At the previous event, more than 160 people participated, including youth, caregivers, volunteers, and community partners.

Participation is free for youth, adult trainees, and Career Fair exhibitors. Corporate sponsorship opportunities are also available for organizations wishing to invest in the next generation.

Businesses, schools, nonprofits, and community organizations interested in participating in the Career Fair or learning about sponsorship opportunities are encouraged to contact Doug Whitener at doug@waymarkfoster.org.
