The Ackerman Security team presents Northside Hospital Cancer Institute with $2,000 in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

During October at the Ackerman Security Systems Corporate Headquarters Ackerman donated over $2,000 to Northside Hospital Cancer Institute benefiting their Breast Care Program.

The proceeds were a result of the employees’ office campaign to bring awareness with the theme, “Paint Ackerman Pink”.  There were events throughout the month which included weekly pink lemonade stands, bake sales, a wall of remembrance, survivor celebrations, and raffles.

Several employees also participated in the “Band Together Against Breast Cancer” mixer and photo shoot held by Best Self Atlanta Magazine celebrating businesses giving back in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“It was very encouraging to see the energy and dedication displayed by our employees toward this cause. Many of our team members have been personally affected by breast cancer in one way or another” said Jim Callahan, President of Ackerman Security Systems.

Ackerman concluded their month with guest speaker Susan Casella, RN and Judi Haberland, a breast cancer survivor from the Northside Hospital Cancer Unit discussing breast health.

“We are very grateful for the donation.  It is because of the support from companies like Ackerman that we are able to offer free mammograms and breast health screenings to our surrounding communities” said Susan Casella, RN, OCN Northside Hospital Cancer Institute.
