New South Construction Company Chairman receives highest association honor

ATLANTA (June 26, 2025) – The Associated General Contractors of Georgia, Inc. (AGC Georgia), the state’s leading construction industry association, proudly announces Doug Davidson as the 2025 recipient of its Skill, Integrity & Responsibility (SIR) Award. Davidson founded New South Construction in 1990 and currently serves as the firm’s Chairman.
The award was presented by Joe Tuggle, 2024-2025 AGC Georgia Board President, during the Closing Dinner of the association’s annual convention on June 4 at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa. The SIR Award honors individuals who demonstrate exceptional service and lasting contributions to the construction industry, AGC Georgia, and their communities.

Davidson served on AGC Georgia’s Board of Directors from 1998 through 2024. He also held the role of president from 2008 to 2009. He recently earned Life Governor status with AGC of America after more than 12 years on its Board of Governors. A champion of mentorship and industry development, Davidson actively supports AGC Georgia’s Young Leadership Program and Executive Alliance. He encourages knowledge-sharing among member firms in critical areas such as safety, technology, and workforce development.
Davidson also played a pivotal role in promoting careers in construction through his leadership with Construction Ready, where he served as a board member and past president. Under his guidance, New South Construction has supported the organization for nearly 30 years, helping elevate initiatives such as Pre-Apprenticeship Programs, the annual CareerExpo, and high school outreach efforts. On the collegiate level, Davidson was active with his alma mater, Auburn University, through service on its Building Construction Industry Advisory Board. He is also a former member of the Clemson Student Affairs Advisory Board.
His impact extends beyond the construction industry. He has served on the following boards: Atlanta Area Council of Boy Scouts of America, Cobb County Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Board of Regents’ Facility Advisory Board, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta, and Sheltering Arms. He’s also a member of the Atlanta Rotary Club.
