The leadership team at Boles Parts Supply (BPS) has set the pace for the company’s increased emphasis on its wellness program and the results have been striking.
“We offered employees time away from regular scheduled duties to not only take advantage of onsite biometric screenings but to have guidance on the results along with an assessment of overall health,” said Holly Kitterman, Boles’ consumer experience consultant through health partner Humana.
Those two factors have helped the company’s largely blue collar workforce identify and address any health concerns that might otherwise have slipped through the cracks, and it’s been a hit with Boles’ employees. While only 11 percent of the workforce completed the health assessment in 2014, 74 percent completed it this year.
That increased participation has led to increased health. The cumulative mea sured body mass index, hypertension, blood glucose and cholesterol of Boles employees dropped 20 percent, while physical activity increased by 10 percent.
We are proud to participate in the success of Boles Part Supply (BPS) winning second place as Atlanta Business Chronicle, “Healthiest Small Employers Award.” Benjamin Bishop Senior Benefits Consultant at ShawHankins believes that every individual needs guidance along a wellness journey. “We have worked very hard over the past several years to help BPS build a culture of a physical and financial wellness. Under the current guidelines of ACA an individual could be responsible for $6,800 in medical expenses. One way to control of these expenses is to take measurements of current behaviors and direct goals towards improvement.“
BPS active involvement in wellness has reduced employees’, Body mass index, blood glucose, hypertension, and cholesterol by 20%.
