Chattahoochee Technical College has earned accreditation for the college’s Dual Achievement program by Cognia, a nonprofit organization that provides quality assurance across the nation for schools, school districts, and education service providers. Benefits of the Cognia accreditation for the Chatt Tech College Academy include ensuring that all high school diplomas earned through the Dual Achievement program at Chattahoochee Tech are accredited by the same organization that accredits public high schools in the state of Georgia.
“We’re proud to announce that the Dual Achievement program at Chattahoochee Tech is officially Cognia accredited,” said Chattahoochee Tech President Dr. Ron Newcomb. “The Dual Achievement program is ideal for students seeking a new environment away from a traditional high school in order to complete their high school course requirements while earning college credentials that prepare them for in-demand careers.”
Georgia’s Dual Achievement Program, established by SB204, offers qualified students between the ages of 16 and 21 a recognized and alternate path to high school graduation. At Chattahoochee Tech, the Dual Achievement program is offered through the Chatt Tech College Academy. There are currently 142 high school students who have been accepted into the Chatt Tech College Academy. These students can choose to simultaneously earn a high school diploma along with two technical certificates of credit, a technical diploma, or a college associate degree in a specific career pathway in order to meet the state’s high school graduation requirements.
Cognia is the parent organization of the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI). “Cognia accreditation is a rigorous process that focuses the entire school and its community on the primary goal of preparing lifelong learners in engaging environments where all students can flourish,” said Dr. Mark A. Elgart, president and CEO of Cognia. “Chattahoochee Tech is to be commended for demonstrating that it has met high standards, and is making progress on key indicators that impact student learning.”
