The Cobb Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that one of its finest members and one of the top five finalists in the Cobb Chamber’s 2009 Small Business of the Year, Creatively Classic Activities and Books (CCA&B), has been named Georgia’s Small Business of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. They are best known for their Christmas story “Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition.”
“We are very proud of CCA&B for winning this prestigious award, and we are also proud of all our members that have contributed to the success of this business community,” said Cobb Chamber Chairman Rob Garcia.
In 2005, Santa’s biggest secret was reveled within the pages of “Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition” at a book signing event at the Marietta Museum of History. The book is based on a family tradition Carol Aebersold shared with her two daughters, Chanda Bell and Christa Pitts. The three women teamed together, forming CCA&B to take their holiday tradition of an ever-watching elf to other families by self publishing “Elf on the Shelf.” Through a massive word of mouth campaign, CCA&B sold all of their initial book unit order by the last quarter of 2005. Over the next three years, CCA&B averaged a yearly sales growth of 342 percent – a mighty accomplishment for a small business. The reward for these enterprising women is having a business that works to strengthen families.
Small Business Person of the Year award winners from 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam will come to the nation’s capital to mark the annual recognition of National Small Business Week and the announcement of the National Small Business Person of the Year, May 23-25, 2010.
