For the first time ever, multiple members of Congress are coming together in a bi-partisan manner to supports Georgia’s veterans and reservists. Senators Isakson and Perdue, along with Congressmen Handel, Loudermilk, D. Scott, and Woodall are jointly hosting a Congressional Expo.
There are expected to be over 100 exhibitors including approximately 75 hiring employers and it is in the works to garner over 1,000 attendees.
The expo will take place on Friday, June 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kennesaw State University Convocation Center. This expo is free to attend and there is no charge to participate. Doors will open at 7 a.m. for vendor set up.
Prior to the Expo’s official opening, hiring companies (and any other interested employers) are invited to attend Military 101 by VETLANTA and the US DOL. This seminar teaches employers to translate what a veteran may be communicating using their learned military language. This is a SHRM certified continuing education course so it should attract companies who may not be hiring at the moment.
There will be 2 rooms for attendees (veterans/reservists) to attend one of 2 sessions running concurrently:
9-9:50 a.m.
-Transitioning workshop to include resume writing, interview skills and LinkedIn networking
– How to start your own business
10-10:50 a.m.
-Transitioning workshop to include resume writing, interview skills and LinkedIn networking
-How to finance your own business
