A comprehensive emergency preparedness plan is critically important for any business. It is vital that such a plan be in place and enacted prior to the occurrence of an actual emergency. Ideally, the plan is created in three phases: developing a strategic disaster plan which includes documenting the procedure and training staff; mobilizing the plan during the actual emergency and potential evacuation; and contingency planning to keep the business viable and functional post-disaster.
