According to the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), more than 96,000 HR professionals hold SHRM credentials, creating one of the fastest-growing HR certification communities. Although certifications are not required for an entry-level job in Human Resources, they are essential for HR professionals looking to move forward in their careers. Employers recognize individuals who hold the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credentials as experts and leaders in the HR field.
“For HR professionals who are looking to further their careers, this would be an excellent step to take to show that you have a commitment to the profession,” said Jennifer Henderson, KSU Continuing Education Program Manager. “These certifications prove your knowledge, competency and value to colleagues and employers.”
In November of 2016, SHRM announced that the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP exams have been accredited by The Buros Center for Testing. This independent, nonprofit organization has also accredited the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and Law School Admission Test (LSAT). The HR credentials meet the highest standards in testing.
“It’s important for professionals seeking to enroll in an HR program, to prepare for the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP certifications, to do so at a facility that is partnered with SHRM,” Henderson said. “Look for programs taught by experienced, senior-level HR professionals. At KSU we have been doing this for more than 20 years. Our program is a comprehensive HR management course taught by HR professionals who hold SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP credentials. Our instructors will provide the support and guidance that you need to prepare and be successful on your certification exams.”
According to research by Payscale.com, certified HR professionals make substantially more than their uncertified counterparts. These SHRM certifications recognize that HR professionals are at the core of leading organizational success.
