Marjorie Foster, an oil painter originally from Cleveland, Ohio, is the Cobb Chamber’s featured artist in the Diana Brehm Williams Art Gallery through October. Foster’s passion for art began while studying textile design at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Once she moved to Atlanta to start a family, Foster began a career in graphic design. Her desire to improve landed her at Georgia State University to earn her B.F.A. in textile design.
Foster is currently pursuing a painting career with her interest in colorful palettes. Initially interested in still life painting in a scenic setting, she is now expanding her outlook to paint landscapes ranging in subject. Today she devotes her talents and time to painting exclusively in oils. Foster draws much of her inspiration from a simple quote, “the power of the suggestive is much greater than the statement of reality.”
Marjorie is a member of the Art Station of Stone Mountain and Dunwoody Fine Art Association. Atlanta Artists Center recently honored Foster by naming her a “Member of Excellence.” For more information about Marjorie Foster and her paintings, visit www.marjoriefosterpaintings.com.
