Gateway Marietta Community Improvement District Advances Placemaking and Wayfinding Improvements During Second Virtual Meeting, August 12

Community Feedback to Shape Vision for GMCID Enhancements

The Gateway Marietta Community Improvement District (GMCID) is advancing its efforts in identifying area improvements that are currently under evaluation. On August 12, at 6 p.m. until 7 p.m., residents, business owners and area stakeholders can join GMCID’s second virtual meeting to provide feedback on several proposed area upgrades. The public input obtained will help prioritize the area’s needs and shape future enhancements funded by GMCID.
“Our upcoming virtual meeting represents another critical step in our inclusive process in determining placemaking options and wayfinding signage to enhance key areas within the Gateway Marietta footprint,” said Caroline Whaley, GMCID Executive Director. “The initial public feedback we receive has already served as a tremendous asset in helping us determine what’s top of mind for the people who live and work in this area. We know this second round of public engagement will help sharpen our focus on establishing community priorities for our thriving and diverse community.”

GMCID, which is a self-taxing entity supported by local businesses and property owners, enlisted Croy Engineering in late 2020 to explore placemaking and signage in the district. Responses received during the initial public engagement period helped focus GMCID’s efforts in presenting prioritized community improvements options.

“This is a great opportunity for residents and local stakeholders to participate in developing the look of their community,” said Councilman Joseph Goldstein.

Due to health concerns related to Covid-19, GMCID opted to host the upcoming meeting virtually and utilize digital surveys to obtain additional public input.
