Gateway Marietta Community Improvement District Seeks Input on Placemaking and Wayfinding Improvements During a Virtual Meeting, March 24th

Marietta Community Encouraged to Provide Feedback, Share Thoughts on Area Enhancements

The Gateway Marietta Community Improvement District (GMCID) is asking the public to weigh in on several possible improvements that are currently under evaluation. On March 24th, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., residents, business owners and area stakeholders can join a virtual public forum that will outline several potential improvements under consideration by GMCID. The public input obtained will help prioritize the area’s needs and shape future enhancements funded by GMCID.

“Over the last month we have collaboratively worked with a number of local stakeholders to discuss strategies for placemaking and wayfinding signage to enhance our vibrant and growing community,” said Caroline Whaley, GMCID administrator. “It is equally critical that area residents share their thoughts on these exciting options and offer feedback that is reflective of our thriving and diverse community.”

GMCID, which is a self-taxing entity supported by local businesses and property owners, enlisted Croy Engineering in late 2020 to explore placemaking and signage in the district. The responses and opinions gathered during the study’s public engagement period will factor into the final recommendation provided to GMCID.

Due to health concerns related to Covid-19, GMCID opted to host the upcoming meeting virtually and utilize digital surveys to obtain public input. Future public engagement activities will also include a community pop-up event and the distribution of project information at key locations across GMCID’s footprint.
