Georgia Symphony Orchestra Launches Candlelit Chamber Concert Series in Historic Marietta Venues

The Georgia Symphony Orchestra (GSO) invites audiences to experience a new Chamber Concert Series set in historic Marietta venues. This new concert series will be performed by small ensembles in an evocative, candlelit atmosphere. Highlighting distinctive instrumental pairings and close-up artistry, the series invites audiences to experience music “at conversation distance”—where every phrase, breath, and gesture is felt.

“Chamber music thrives on proximity,” said Suzanne Tucker, Executive Director of the GSO. “These concerts put our community in beautifully restored spaces with extraordinary musicians, creating a listening experience that’s personal, immediate, and unforgettable.”

The series is presented by Barnes Law Group, and as a special feature, Governor Roy Barnes will attend each concert to offer a brief reflection on the historical significance of that evening’s venue.

“Chamber music is especially well suited to these historic churches in the heart of Marietta,” said Bryan Black, GSO Chorus Director and organizer of the Chamber Music Series. “Each venue connects us across generations, offering audiences the opportunity to experience chamber music as it was originally intended in intimate acoustic surroundings. We are grateful to Barnes Law Group for their generous support of this series, and to Governor Barnes for sharing the stories that bring these remarkable places to life.”

2025 Chamber Concert Series Highlights

The Chamber Series begins on November 14 with “Dances from the New World” featuring Jeanne Carere, GSO Principal Flute and John Huston, classical guitar. Listeners can expect elegant melodies and rhythmic vitality, tracing lively dances across North and South American soundscapes.

Please note: Due to the venue’s limited capacity, this program will be offered in two performances to accommodate demand. Seating is extremely limited and expected to sell out quickly.

The Series continues on January 23 with Chamber Music at Old Zion — Celebrating Black Voices.”  Led by Robert Givens, GSO Assistant Concertmaster, with members of the GSO Core, the quartet honors the Black classical tradition with a program selected to fill this treasured space with music from significant yet often overlooked Black composers.

The City of Marietta is the Presenting Sponsor of the GSO’s 75th Anniversary Season.

Tickets are $25.00. For more information and to purchase tickets visit GeorgiaSymphony.org for more information.
