Georgia Tech Alum Announces New Sports Lounge Opening in Marietta

Professional athlete and Georgia Tech alum, Alade Aminu announced today that the new sports lounge, Bar 44, will open October 15, in Marietta, Georgia. He is opening Bar 44 alongside his partners Abdul Olayiwola, and Gary Ellis.

Named after Aminu’s high school jersey number, Bar 44 is an upscale lounge serving elevated bar food, signature cocktails, hookah and a weekend brunch. Menu highlights include, the Max Contract Burger, the Dunk on You Burger and the Training Camp Burger – a vegan option. The menu also features sports themed beverages such as the purple and gold Mamba cocktail, the 4th and 1, and a flight called the Shooters. Bar 44 will also offer a wide array of other menu options including a variety of flavored wings, pastas, salads, and tacos prepared by head chef, Brandon Jones.

Aminu’s partner Olayiwola brings to the team his extensive experience working in the financial and operations space. His focus is to help develop and implement strategic initiatives that will drive operational excellence through streamlining core business processes, improving efficiencies, and delivering a great customer experience. Abdul’s goal is for Bar 44 to be an important piece to the local community ecosystem as a whole.

The sports lounge features 15 large screen televisions for wall-to-wall game coverage and elegant lounging giving patrons a skybox feel that offers an inviting and comfortable atmosphere for all.

With a desire to bring something new to the area, Aminu had this to say about the opening of Bar 44, “I noticed that while living in Marietta, there wasn’t anywhere to go and watch the game with the elevated vibe I was looking for. This is something that the neighborhood can be excited about, and I’m thrilled to bring a new sports lounge like this to the city. This will be the first of many Bar 44 locations.”

Aminu graduated from Stephenson High School on the eastside of Atlanta before getting accepted to Georgia Tech where he had a successful basketball career. After college, Aminu played professionally for 14 seasons. He played his first season with the Miami Heat, and continued his career internationally in multiple countries including Spain, France and Turkey. Aminu was a member of his Nigerian Nation team helping them to qualify for the Olympic bid in London (2012) and Rio (2016).

In addition to great food and drinks, you might also catch a celebrity sighting or two. Al-Farouq Aminu, who has played for the Portland Trailblazer, Dallas Mavericks and LA Clipper is the brand ambassador for Bar 44 and Alade’s brother.

“None of this would be possible without my team. They have been paramount in bringing this sports lounge to life and without them, we wouldn’t be opening Bar 44,” Aminu concludes.

Bar 44 is located at 2755 Canton Rd, Marietta, Georgia. For more information including a full menu, hours of operations, and merch, visit www.bar44atl.com.
