It’s GAME ON for the Georgia Symphony Orchestra

Experience the ultimate mashup of gaming nostalgia and epic symphonic sound.

The Georgia Symphony Orchestra (GSO) is pressing “play” on an unforgettable adventure with Level Up! Music from Video Games on Saturday, October 11, featuring both a sensory-friendly and a family concert

From the instantly recognizable Super Mario Bros. theme to the sweeping landscapes of Halo, Minecraft, World of Warcraft, and the emotional storytelling of Undertale and Kingdom Hearts, Level Up! Music from Video Games brings the thrilling worlds of popular games to life on stage and in surround sound.

“As someone who grew up probably spending too much time in arcades and gaming at home, I know firsthand how the music makes the experience even better,” said GSO Music Director and Conductor Timothy Verville, the creator of the concert. “It’s a lot of fun to share music from my childhood, like the classic 8-bit Mario theme and Tetris, to music from games my kids play, and everything in-between.”

The result is an experience that bridges generations, blending nostalgia for parents with excitement for younger audiences.

The sensory-friendly concert at 2 p.m. is designed for people with sensory sensitivities and includes access to a “quiet room.” Lighting will be softened, the volume will be lowered, and a “quiet room” will be available. A family-friendly concert follows at 4 p.m. During both performances, guests are not only welcomed but also encouraged to move around, dance, speak, sing, or vocalize, allowing them to fully experience orchestral music without the constraints of a standard symphony experience.

Guests can also enjoy a chance to get hands-on with some of these instruments that bring symphonies to life with Miss Lala’s Instrument Petting Zoo (provided by Notes of Impact), available 45 minutes before each concert.

“We value the accessibility of our programs to the community,” said Suzanne Tucker, GSO’s Executive Director. “As a KultureCity Sensory Inclusive™ Certified organization, we prioritize making venues, times, and costs that fit the needs of the community, and we make sure no one is left behind.”

Both concerts will take place at the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre, located at 548 South Marietta Parkway SE, Marietta, GA 30060. Tickets are $10 per person and are available online at GeorgiaSympyony.org. Space is limited, and advance ticket purchase is highly recommended.

The City of Marietta is the Presenting Sponsor of the GSO’s 75th Anniversary Season.
