On August 7, 2015 state and county leaders officially opened a brand new state-of-the-art driver services center in Cobb County at 3690 Old 41 Highway NW, Kennesaw, 30144. The new Department of Driver Services (DDS) center is approximately one half mile north of North Cobb High School.

A partnership between the State of Georgia and Cobb County enabled the 10,000 square foot facility to replace the previous DDS location at 2800 Canton Road in Marietta. The Canton Road center was too small for the areas growing population.

The new center opened the doors for customers on June 16 and for the first few weeks served 9,214 customers with an average wait time of 13.07 (thirteen minutes and seven seconds).  “After the initial learning curve for customers that are accustomed to visiting the old location, I am sure that the customers are going to be very proud to have this new center in Kennesaw,” said DDS Commissioner Rob Mikell.

About the New Location

  • 10,000 square feet
  • 20 issuance stations
  • 14 computer-testing stations

With the new technology customers can see it at work here beginning with the Tech Deck where they use the computer to complete and submit their paperwork instead of a clipboard and pen and paper. (A new web-based service at www.dds.ga.gov allows for those planning a visit to DDS to complete and submit their paperwork before arriving which allows for even better wait times. The second step after arriving is a self- service kiosk where customers take a ticket and are scheduled for service.  There are many amenities like cellphone/tablet chargers, more comfortable seating for customers while they wait.  Free Wi-Fi is coming in the near future.   For more information, please visit www.dds.g.gov.
