The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at KSU’s College of Continuing and Professional Education is collaborating with Booth Western Art Museum to provide residents new learning opportunities this spring. The newly established partnership will allow residents to learn about the American West through five unique course offerings held at the museum.
“The partnership between OLLI and the Booth Western Art Museum offers lifelong learning opportunities to students in Cartersville and north,” said Pat Walker, OLLI program manager. “Our collaboration provides a classroom setting inside the museum that displays the art and history being discussed in each of the courses.”
Courses held at the Booth Western Art Museum include:
- Civil War in the Western Theater
- Spirits of the Great American West
- How to Write Historical Fiction
- Legends and Basic Playing of the Native American Flutes
- American West Influence on Operatic and Broadway Productions of Musical Compositions
The partnership with the museum is part of OLLI’s commitment to provide continuous lifelong learning opportunities in the community. 
The Booth Western Art Museum is the only museum of its kind in the Southeast. The museum is the second largest museum in the state and houses the largest permanent exhibition space for Western American art in the country.
“Students that would not have been able to attend a course due to the distance of OLLI will be better served at a closer location near their home,” said Walker. “Our goal is to establish touch points in the community that we are all a part of.”
