KSU’s Lean Six Sigma Programs to Begin in October

KSU’s College of Continuing and Professional Education Lean Six Sigma programs – Yellow Belt and Green Belt – are scheduled to begin Oct.7 and Oct.19. Students will learn to implement this proven business management strategy to help their organization operate more efficiently.

The Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt program is designed to introduce the concepts of Lean and Six Sigma, including the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) model. The Green Belt course serves as an extension of the Yellow Belt class. A deeper understanding of the principles and concepts of Lean Six Sigma are covered. Students who successfully complete both the Yellow and Green Belt courses will earn a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate.

“A Lean Six Sigma certification demonstrates your commitment to ongoing education and professional standards,” said Tracy Jordan-Alibachus, program manager. “This course will teaches students how to maximize their performance gains.”

Ron DuBose instructs both courses. He has over 10 years of industry experience and is a Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. Throughout his career, he has led eight lean six sigma projects that increased revenue and decreased costs. He has also led more than 30 Kaizen events, helping teams complete improvement projects in a short period.

Alejandra Mortenson, program graduate, said the program helped her in her role as project manager.

“Part of my job is making sure that our projects are on time, on schedule and in the best state that they can be in,” Mortenson said. “Taking this course has given me some tools to take back and really get our processes where they need to be so that we can be the best company that we can be.”
