Mount Paran Christian School Student-Athletes Close Generational Gaps By Dancing

On August 20, 2024 MPCS student-athletes gathered at North Metro Church for the Legacy Luncheon, an event for Walton Communities senior residents all over the state of Georgia to dance the day away just like it was 1950. The old-fashioned sock hop was a hit for senior
residents and athletes alike as they bonded over some bebop tunes with Coke floats, poodle skirts, diner food, and vintage cars.

The partnership between Walton Communities and Mount Paran Christian School students is a treasured one where others can capture a glimpse of the joy that occurs when student-leaders are able to serve the community and have fun doing it. Every year, student-athletes look forward to this event where they can break away from the school day and have a great time closing generational gaps by sharing laughter,
stories, and dance moves with senior residents.

Eagle athletes also enjoy playing and reading with the children of Mission 1:27 Adventure Centers at Walton Communities. MPCS partners with the Adventure Center throughout the entire school year to mentor and serve their elementary-aged children through reading, games, and STEAM activities. The positive influence that mentorship and sports can have beyond the game is truly a blessing to all
generations.

Angie Smith, Executive Director of Mission 1:27 states “We deeply value the involvement of Mount Paran students in our ministry. Their enthusiasm and encouragement not only uplift our community but also serve as a powerful bridge between generations. Their intentional influence and modeling offer meaningful guidance to our elementary-aged students, fostering growth and connection within our program.”
