Mount Paran Christian Varsity Volleyball Coach Selina Chancy has reached a milestone 350 wins during her tenure as head coach after the Lady Eagles took on both North Cobb Christian and Coretta Scott King in a tri-match.
She has spent the entirety of her coaching career with the Lady Eagles. During her time with Mount Paran Christian athletics, her teams have won two State titles, one State runner-up title, five Area championships, and two cobb county championships. She received the Marietta Daily Journal Cobb County Coach of the Year Award in both 2018 and in 2021, as well as the A/AA Private Coach of the Year Award in 2018.
In addition to serving as MPC volleyball head coach, Chancy is also a high school English teacher for Mount Paran Christian School. She has been in the profession for more than a decade after having earned her Bachelor’s degree in English Education with a Minor in Coaching from Kennesaw State University. While a student at KSU, Chancy played volleyball for the Division I, serving as the starting libero during her four years at the school. She played for the school’s inaugural team, helping to start a program that was brand new at the time but has grown into what Chancy describes as “an excellent volleyball program, much like the volleyball program at Mount Paran Christian School.”
For the current season, Chancy’s Lady Eagles are 21-6, having played top ranking teams in Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina. The team is currently undefeated and ranked first in its region and in all of class 2A.
Of her time at Mount Paran Christian School, Chancy says, “It has been a blessing and honor to start with a program that was fairly new and see it develop into a program that is a consistent Region and State championship contender. The athletes and their families represent this school and its mission in their integrity, commitment to excellence, and passion, which makes this ‘job’ so fulfilling and so much fun. These wins come from the commitment of every player I have coached, every parent who has supported us, and every coach, from our middle school B team through our Varsity team, who has believed in our mission not only to win games, but also, more importantly, to develop true servant-leaders who use their talents to glorify God.”
