NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity Launches All “Women Build” 2018

Habitat for Humanity NW Metro AtlantaGrab your hammers Cobb County ladies, the NW Metro Atlanta Habitat Women Build Steering Committee is looking for individuals and teams of volunteers to participate in the first of its kind new home build in the City of Marietta.

The new home build located on Chestnut Hill Drive, kicks off May 5, the Saturday prior to Mother’s Day weekend. NW Metro Atlanta Habitat is sponsoring the Women Build project in conjunction with affiliates nationwide. Teams of volunteers will build the new house alongside the well-qualified Habitat homebuyer over nine Saturdays, culminating with the house dedication on July 21.

“This program has experienced tremendous success all around the country and we know that it will be equally successful with the extraordinary women of Cobb County,” said Fran Sutton, director of marketing and communication, NW Metro Habitat for Humanity.

Marie Barnes, former first lady of Georgia is serving as Honorary Chair. The Women Build kick-off event will be held on April 19 at the home of former Gov. Roy and Marie Barnes home in Marietta.

Steering Committee members include Susan Boyd, Katy Ruth Camp, Erin Etheredge, Kim Gresh, Judge Joyette Holmes, Meredith Houseworth, Sheri Kell, Beverly McAfee, Tricia Madden, Natalie Moore, Kristie Naylor, Leigh Pharr, Ginger Paquin, Holly Quinlin, Lily Saborit, Jolynn Siedor, Marianne Snyder, Mary Ansley Southerland, Carol Sullivan, Fran Sutton, Sue Webb and Lynn Wigington.

The Steering Committee will be raising $80,000 to build the home. Initial corporate sponsors include S.A. White Oil Company and Walton Communities. Volunteers are asked to donate or raise $250 to participate on one Saturday. Corporate sponsorships are available at any level.
