Photo Gallery: Atlanta Braves Lay First Brick at SunTrust Park

The Atlanta Braves, SunTrust Bank, Cobb dignitaries, American Builders 2017 and honorary masonry, Eutis Morris who also laid bricks at Fulton County Stadium and Olympic Stadium, laid the first bricks at SunTrust Park on Thurs., Aug. 27.

  • Tim Lee, Cobb County Board of Commissioners Chairman
  • Cobb County Board of Commissioners JoAnn Birrell, Lisa Cupid, Bob Ott and Bob Weatherford
  • Tad Leithead, Cumberland CID Chairman
  • Jerry Nix, Chairman of the Cobb-Marietta Coliseum and Exhibit Hall Authority
  • David Connell, President & CEO of the Cobb Chamber
  • Brooks Mathis, Executive Director of Cobb’s Competitive EDGE & Sr. Vice President of Economic Development for the Cobb Chamber

SunTrust Park Quick Stats

  • More than 775,000 bricks will be laid at SunTrust Park
  • 26,000 cubic yards of concrete used to date. That’s enough to pour a four foot wide sidewalk around I-285 1.5 times.
  • The park utilizes 8,000 tons of steel, about 700 more than the Eiffel Tower.
  • 100,000 cubic yards of dirt has been moved, filling approximately 10,000 dump trucks.
  • Currently, there are 450 workers on site.
  • 525,000 man hours to date
