Best trick competition, food trucks and vendor village also part of afternoon’s celebration put on by the City of Powder Springs and partners
Wheeled wonders will be showing off for the crowds as part of the City of Powder Springs’ grand opening of its Skate Park at Linear Park on Saturday, Oct. 14, from noon to 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Being held in partnership with California Skateparks, which constructed the Skate Park, the event will feature pro skater demonstrations and a best trick competition with Stratosphere Skateboard Shop. These festivities will follow an opening ceremony at noon, while food trucks and a vendor village will remain on site during the entirety of the event.
The Skate Park will be open for all skaters following the ceremony, demos and competition.
Officially open since a July 19 ribbon cutting ceremony attended by the Mayor and City Council, city officials and community members, the Skate Park has been a hard-to-miss attraction right off the Silver Comet Trail as users exit the trail tunnel underneath Powder Springs Road near Richard D. Sailors Parkway.
Event parking will be limited at Silver Comet Linear Park, within which the Skate Park is located. Additional parking details will be announced closer to the event date on cityofpowdersprings.org.
Those interested in more information on the vendor village can contact Michele Coursey, event coordinator for the City of Powder Springs, at mcoursey@cityofpowdersprings.org.
