SBA Assists in Flood Recovery

The SBA is providing low interest disaster loans to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes, and private, non-profit organizations. These loans are to help repair or replace real estate, personal property, machinery and equipment, inventory, and business assets that have been damaged or destroyed in a declared disaster, like the current flood situation in Georgia.

As with Presidential disaster declarations, FEMA is the lead Agency and works with the State to identify Disaster Recovery Centers. The Centers are staffed with representatives from FEMA, SBA, State and other agencies involved in providing disaster assistance. Currently, the Cobb County Disaster Recovery Center is open 7 days a week, from 8 a.m. to 7p.m.:

 Flood Resource Center
Threadmill Complex – Library Entrance

5000 Austell-Powder Springs Road
Austell, GA 30106
(770) 944-4309

Homeowners and renters must register with FEMA to obtain a FEMA Registration ID Number by calling 1-800-621-3362. The speech or hearing impaired may call (TTY) 1-800-462-7585. To apply online, or to find out more about submitting an application through the mail, click here.

The SBA Disaster Declaration for Georgia is #11886. The filing deadline for applications for Physical Damage to homes, personal property, and businesses is November 23, 2009. The filing deadline for applications for Economic Injury is June 24, 2010.
