On Dec. 8, SCORE Georgia District Director Art Slotkin announced the North Metro Atlanta chapter as the Georgia District’s first chapter of the year. This announcement comes just six months after the North Metro chapter began operation.
For many years SCORE Atlanta provided services to the small business community throughout north and central Georgia. On May 16, 2016 SCORE North Metro Atlanta was formed to provide additional focus to Cobb, Gwinnett, and North Fulton counties; while permitting SCORE Atlanta to increase its focus on the city of Atlanta, Fulton county within the perimeter, and south Atlanta.
The North Metro Atlanta leadership team quickly focused on strengthening partnerships with chambers of commerce, municipalities, and local business
associations. The new chapter began offering a full range of workshops, face-to-face mentoring in seven locations, and added evening hours to better serve clients.
The North Metro Atlanta chapter expanded its active web presence, with a webpage, Facebook page, and Twitter accounts. Workshops and mentoring are promoted through frequent promotional emails. The chapter became one of the nation’s first to exclusively use the national call center to schedule clients who request mentoring through score.org, and is participating in the national social media program.
As this chapter formed, it expanded, and in a few short months, it has grown to 52 members, with 97% of its active members certified as mentors. Moreover, nearly a third of its members are female or minority members. The chapter served 304 unique clients, fiscal year to date, conduced 413 mentoring sessions, and achieved a composite net promoter score of 88%. About half of the mentoring sessions in Georgia, have occurred in this chapter during fiscal year 2017. During the first two months of this fiscal year, 61 clients also attended seven chapter workshops, and the chapter delivered 474 total services, more than a quarter of the state’s total, thus far.
The North Metro Atlanta chapter is poised for growth, with new workshop offerings, and strong partnerships. Its plans for expanded services during this fiscal year will result in more growth and we congratulate the chapter leadership and members for a job well done.
