The second Cobb Innovation and Technology Academy (CITA) will be located at Allatoona High School, Superintendent Chris Ragsdale announced Thursday night.
The first academy opened by Osborne High School, and will see its first group of seniors who attended the school all four years graduate this May.
“Congratulations to our first group of students who completed a full four years at the Cobb Innovations and Technology Academy,” Ragsdale said. “Our students who attended CITA the last four years post-secondary plans include joining the workforce, joining the military or attending a technical or traditional college.”
Ragsdale said the success of the first CITA paved the way for a second facility to be funded by Special Purpose Local Option Sales Taxes (SPLOST). He added that the district plans to open a third CITA somewhere in the northeastern part of the county.
“It is our intent to have three (CITAs) to provide these pathways for our students and every opportunity for them to be successful,” Ragsdale said.
