SMIGroup, the world’s largest producers of packing machines, is bringing their North American Sales & Service office to Cobb County.
Headquartered in Italy, SMI operates through a network of eight branches and six divisions throughout the world. Their new location in Cobb, will be the second representative office in the U.S. and will provide sales and after sales support to North American customers for the company.
“Its vicinity to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the numerous local organizations and the network of schools and colleges made Cobb the best choice for SMI,” said Claudio Salvi, Director of SMI USA.
Located at 5500 South Cobb Drive, the office space and showroom will consist of 14,000 square feet and will require an initial hiring of 10-15 people at this North American location.
In 2010, SMIGroup served over 130 nations, exported 95 percent of production and brought in volume sales in excess of one hundred million dollars. Among SMIGroup’s most important customers of the food & beverage sector include Nestlè, Coca Cola, PepsiCo, Cott, Heinz and Heineken.
