Local Celebrities Partner with Professional Dancers in a Live Competition Benefiting The Georgia Ballet and Local Nonprofit Partners.
Tickets are now on sale for The Georgia Ballet’s An Evening of Stars: A Celebrity Dance Gala, an unforgettable evening of talent, elegance, and show-stopping performances celebrating the art of dance.
Local celebrity and community leaders Tanya Mendoza (WAGA–FOX 5), Madelyn Orochena (Kennesaw City Council), Suzanne Forte (Comcast), and J. Nichole Simms (DeKalb County) will take the stage alongside professional dancers from The Georgia Ballet in a live dance competition to raise funds for The Georgia Ballet and the charities of their choice.
An Evening of Stars takes place Saturday, April 18 at 7:00 p.m. at the Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre in downtown Marietta.
“An Evening of Stars is a joyful celebration of what happens when artistry and community come together,” said Ashleyanne Hensley, Interim Executive Director of The Georgia Ballet. “By pairing local leaders with our professional dancers, we’re creating an evening that highlights the power of movement while raising important funds for The Georgia Ballet and several outstanding nonprofit organizations.”
Each celebrity-professional dancer pair will present a short dance performance, with awards presented for both People’s Choice, determined by fundraising totals the day of the competition, and Judge’s Choice, selected by a panel of judges. The evening will also feature performances by The Georgia Ballet Company and a special appearance by Artistic Director Daet Rodriguez and his wife, Margit.
Judges will be Shuler Hensley (local Broadway and film actor/singer), Pam Younker (esteemed community member), Debbie Blair (Cobb County Attorney)and Abby Smith (Executive Director of the Marietta Arts Council).
Proceeds benefit The Georgia Ballet and participating nonprofit organizations, including Atlanta Toys for Tots, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, New Life Community Alliance, and In the Action.
Tickets range from $75 to $150 and include drink tickets and various reception experiences.
