Twenty-nine Cobb County non-profits were honored by Wells Fargo team members with $1,000 Days of Giving donations.
Wells Fargo also announced that its Atlanta-area employees gave or pledged $1.8 million this fall in the United Way and Community Support campaign – 24 percent more than last year.
In all, 240 groups are receiving $1,000 checks at a series of community breakfasts across Atlanta. Twenty-four of the Cobb groups were honored at a breakfast at the Mansour Center on Oct. 29.
Said Wells Fargo Area President Jim Lawrence, “To some a $1,000 grant may seem small, but we know each of these great groups will be able to make a huge difference with this. And collectively this will have a major impact in our community.”
Cobb County Commission Chairman Tim Lee told those assembled, “You are people who get up 365 days a year and ask, ‘How can I help other people today.’ You are the foundation for what makes Cobb County great.”
With the program in its sixth year, giving across Georgia will exceed $1.5 million this fall.
All the groups were selected by frontline team members in bank offices in the Atlanta area for the work they are doing locally.
“We are doing our best to be a great local bank, and this is a cornerstone of our local giving and volunteerism,” said Michael Knowles, business banking manager.
