WellStar Kennestone Hospital cardiac rehabilitation services hosted a ribbon cutting celebration for the opening of its new demonstration kitchen funded through donations to the WellStar Foundation. On September 20, 2016, WellStar team members and Foundation donors celebrated the launch of the program that will provide healthy cooking demonstrations to patients and the community.
The demonstration kitchen will be utilized by cardiac rehabilitation services and WellStar Health Place to host healthy cooking demonstrations led by onsite nutritionists. In addition to supporting the demonstration kitchen, donations to the WellStar Foundation also contributed to upgrading exercise equipment for cardiac rehabilitation services.
“We are appreciative of the WellStar Foundation and their dedication to providing patient-centered services that encourage prevention and safe rehabilitation for patients with coronary artery disease,” said Joe Phillips, M.D., cardiac rehabilitation supervising physician. “The educational cooking station is more than a teaching kitchen, it’s a tool that empowers cardiac rehab patients to make healthy decisions, as well as the community overall through interactive cooking classes offered by WellStar Health Place. It’s a win-win for the community.”
