With the Atlanta Braves on the way, Gas South Expands and Extends Lease at One Overton Park

Gas South, one of Georgia’s leading natural gas providers, announced today that it will expand and consolidate operations at its corporate headquarters in the Cumberland area of Cobb County.

Approximately 90 employees who now work at the company’s Marietta customer care center will move in early 2015 to the One Overton Park office complex on Cumberland Blvd., which has served as Gas South’s headquarters since its founding in 2006. In a show of commitment to the Cumberland area, Gas South has extended its lease at One Overton Park through early 2025.

“The Cumberland area of Cobb County has been a terrific place to establish and grow our business,” said Kevin Greiner, president and CEO of Gas South.  “With a new Atlanta Braves stadium and adjacent entertainment complex on the way, the Cumberland area has emerged as one of the most exciting, vibrant places in the metro area. We’re thrilled to be a part of it.”

The 14,485 square-foot customer care facility will have a best-in-class design that includes attractive employee work spaces, break rooms, private coaching rooms, and other employee-friendly features.  With this additional space, Gas South will occupy a total of 41,493 square feet at One Overton Park.

“Our employees take great pride in providing outstanding customer service,” Greiner said. “This new facility will help us maintain our high standards by enhancing a culture of teamwork and unifying operations under one roof. We’re excited to see the change take effect.”

Gas South brought its customer care operations in-house about two years ago in an effort to have greater control and oversight over this critical business function. Since 2008, Gas South has grown its customer base by 70 percent.  The company also recently expanded its business into Florida.

“I am pleased to see Gas South make this commitment to Cobb County and the fast-growing Cumberland area,” said Tim Lee, Cobb County Commission Chairman. “Investments by the Atlanta Braves and other commercial interests are good for our citizens and businesses, and will help Gas South and other local companies attract and retain a world-class workforce.”

“Gas South is a growing company with a passion for customer service and community involvement.  We are thrilled that they have chosen Cobb County as a long-term home for Gas South’s operations,” said David Connell, president and CEO of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce. “Gas South realizes that the Cumberland area is being transformed into an even more dynamic community where people will want to live, work, play and learn.”

The Overton Park building on Cumberland Blvd. is owned by Franklin Street Properties and managed by Hines Interests. Cushman & Wakefield advised Gas South on the lease transaction.
