Cobb Chamber Names Dennette Thornton the 2025 Powder Springs Citizen of the Year

The Cobb Chamber’s South Cobb Area Council, which represents South Cobb’s three distinct districts of Austell, Mableton and Powder Springs, has selected its 2025 Powder Springs Citizen of the Year: Dennette Thornton of Arthur M. Blank Sports and Entertainment.

The Citizen of the Year Awards are given to honor an individual whose impact through the years will be recognized and regarded with pride throughout the area as a role model. These outstanding citizens are chosen for their definable, exceptional deeds, with which he or she has made their community a better place to live. Awards are given based on local area nominations. The 2025 Powder Springs Citizen of the Year award was presented at the South Cobb Area Council luncheon at the Riverside EpiCenter.

Dennette Thornton, AMB Sports and Entertainment

Dennette Thornton currently serves as Senior Director of Family Fund & Engagement at AMB Sports & Entertainment (AMBSE), where she leads a nonprofit fund supporting employees in need and advances employee engagement initiatives. She is a founding contributor to AMBSE’s Women’s Associate Resource Group, a Board Member of Visit Marietta, The Dave Krache Foundation, and LiveSafe Resources, and a volunteer for the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation. She earned the Chair’s MVP Award through The Dave Krache Foundation in 2024 for her incredible work as Resource Development Chair, taking the committee and organization to the next level in helping local kids in need play sports.

Thornton is a Leadership Cobb Class of 2023 graduate, recipient of the Wyman Pilcher Jr. Memorial Award, and continues to serve as an alumna. Her commitment extends to stepping in during times of need: coordinating special experiences for families in need, filling leadership gaps in nonprofit organizations, and leading fundraising teams such as one with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s “Visionary” campaign – raising well over $100,000. Whether she is leading a board, mentoring students, rallying a team of volunteers, or quietly stepping in to fill a gap, Thornton gives her best without expecting recognition and turns her passion into tangible results that benefit her community.
