Atlanta Sports Council will be the only sports commission in the nation with both a dedicated annual television broadcast and annual published print magazine celebrating one of the world’s premier sports cities.
The Atlanta Sports Council, in partnership with Atlanta Magazine Custom Media, today announced the launch of the inaugural Atlanta sports magazine, The A, which is a new annual publication dedicated to celebrating the people, events and stories that define Atlanta as one of the world’s premier sports cities.
The first edition will debut in January 2027, marking the start of a new tradition that captures the defining moments of each year in Atlanta sports. Through compelling storytelling, exclusive features and behind-the-scenes perspectives, the publication will explore the diverse landscape of Atlanta sports, including:
- Major international sporting events hosted throughout the region
- Atlanta’s signature annual events, initiatives and impact
- Exclusive features on the business and civic leaders helping to shape the future of sports in Atlanta
- Atlanta’s professional sports teams and franchises
- Collegiate athletics, championships and student-athlete success stories
- Profiles of athletes, coaches, executives and community leaders
- Sports business, innovation and economic impact
- The volunteers, partners and organizations that make Atlanta’s success possible
- Forecasting the events and opportunities shaping the future of sports in Georgia
- Youth sports and tournaments around the state of Georgia
The magazine will serve as a companion to the Atlanta Sports Council’s annual Atlanta Sports Awards, produced in partnership with 11Alive. The Atlanta Sports Council is the first sports commission in the nation to offer both a dedicated annual television broadcast and an annual print publication focused entirely on celebrating its sports community. Together, these two storytelling platforms create an unparalleled opportunity to elevate Atlanta’s sports industry, recognize its achievements and share the stories that continue to inspire audiences across Georgia and beyond.
“From hosting the world’s biggest sporting events to supporting the organizations and people who make those events possible, Atlanta has built one of the most dynamic sports communities anywhere in the world,” said Dan Corso, President of the Atlanta Sports Council. “We’re incredibly proud to partner with Atlanta Magazine Custom Media to create a publication that tells those stories in a meaningful way. This magazine will become the definitive annual record of Atlanta sports and another platform to showcase why our city continues to lead on the global stage.”
The A will be produced in partnership with Atlanta Magazine Custom Media. For more than 65 years, Atlanta magazine has chronicled the people, places and moments that define the city. As Atlanta’s most respected and enduring publication, the magazine has been the trusted voice on the region’s culture, business, dining and lifestyle. This new partnership brings that award-winning editorial expertise to Atlanta’s sports community, creating a publication that preserves the moments, celebrates the people and showcases the impact sports have on the city’s economy, culture and identity.
“Having had the privilege of partnering with the Atlanta Sports Council in the past by producing publications for the Super Bowl and the most recent FIFA World Cup, it was only natural that we look to continue telling the story of why Atlanta, and our region, is the number one sports city in the nation,” said Sean McGinnis, President and Publisher, Atlanta Magazine. “This annual publication will provide the opportunity to highlight what makes Atlanta unique when it comes to hosting world-class sporting events. Coming off the World Cup, our partners were enthusiastic to keep the momentum going, and this new magazine will certainly accomplish that.”
The inaugural issue of The A, Atlanta’s first dedicated sports magazine, will debut in January 2027. It will be distributed to Atlanta magazine subscribers and available across Georgia through partnerships with major sporting events, collegiate athletic departments, hotels, convention and visitor bureaus, airports, chambers of commerce, welcome centers and select newsstand retailers.
