Cobb EMC today announced that Peter Heintzelman will join the company as President and CEO, effective March 19. Heintzelman replaces W.T. “Chip” Nelson, who will retire after 45 years with the Marietta, Ga.-based electric cooperative.
“After a thorough and diligent search process, we are thrilled to have Peter join us as President and CEO,” said Tripper Sharp, Chairman of Cobb EMC’s board of directors. “Peter’s vast experience, coupled with an impressive record of achievement, will help us continue to identify new and innovative ways to serve our members.”
Heintzelman has an extensive background in corporate operations, business strategy and finance in the energy, services and manufacturing sectors, including having guided companies through complex transitional and growth periods. Through his experience in operations, investment banking, trading and business development across the globe, Heintzelman brings a unique perspective to one of the nation’s largest electric cooperatives.

Most recently, Heintzelman served as Interim Group CEO of innovative energy storage technology and manufacturing company Alevo. He has also served as CFO and in other executive finance and leadership roles for T5 Oil & Gas, Shelf Drilling, Standard Bank and Halliburton. Heintzelman holds a Master of Business Administration with Honors from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
